The jōbin is a vessel designed for holding pure water. According to the ancient Buddhist text, the Lotus Sutra, it was originally one of the eighteen tools that a monk should possess, but it later came to be used as a container for offering clean water before the Buddha. Additionally, during the Goryeo Dynasty, it served as a practical water storage vessel.

Delicate floral motifs are elegantly incised along the front and back of the body, creating a harmonious balance. Among Goryeo celadon jōbin, this piece stands out for its exceptional glaze color. The form is refined, and its condition is remarkably pristine, making it museum-quality. A wooden box is included.
