錆び枯れた味わい深い青銅の合子です。内部に石灰が付着しています。これは11世紀頃から東南アジア地域で嗜まれるようになったキンマと合わせたもので、本品はこのキンマ用の石灰容器です。類品がカンボジアのクメール時代の遺跡からも出土しています。本品はおそらく、スコタイ時代(13～16世紀)のものと思われます。頂部の宝珠や優美な形態から日本では舎利容器として古美術書等で紹介されることもあります。蓋を外すことができますので、何かしらの容器として、あるいは香立てとしてもお楽しみ頂けるでしょう。
