This tea saucer is formed in a horizontally elongated lotus‑petal shape. Delicate motifs are incised on both faces, with the designs varying slightly from one piece to another. Some details are difficult to discern in the photographs, but they appear to depict grasses and flowers.
The overall form is slightly deep, making it well suited to small sencha bowls or white porcelain cups. As a sencha accessory, the tea saucers also pair neatly with small Chinese tea cups. Each bears a mark on the underside. A fitted wooden box is included.
The pewter surface shows age-related dulling, scuffs, fine scratches, and areas of discoloration. An antique pewter tea saucer with an attractive patina.
