イフガオ族は、フィリピンのルソン島北部の山岳地帯に住まう人々です。ルソン島は有数の稲作地帯であり、美しい棚田でも知られています。江戸時代、日本の銀と交換取引された壺は呂宋（ルソン）壺と呼ばれ、当時の茶人達に珍重されたものです。本品もかなり使い込まれた飴色の茶籠で、もともとは飯籠として作られたものです。
