本品は、漢代に制作された黒陶の扁壺で、独特な丸みを帯びた形状が特徴です。黒陶とは、酸素を遮断して焼成することで黒く発色した土器のことで、アンダーソン土器とも呼ばれています。
この壺は、発掘品のため、酸化した土や首裏には剥落が見られますが、全体的に完器形を保っています。手に取るとその重厚さが伝わり、古代の気配が伝わってくるようです。オブジェとしていかがでしょうか。
