WOODEN FOOTED TRAY, ø 34 cm, Qing Dynasty(1616–1911CE)

Tax included.  |  Flat ¥1,000 shipping (Honshu only, large items excluded)

Chinese-style lacquered tray with a raised foot. Its height and size are ideal for serving tea for two. The sides and top are constructed in a barrel-like fashion, featuring wooden joinery. The panels of the side are reinforced with a core and bound with cord around the perimeter. The wood exhibits a well-worn patina, giving it a substantial weight.

We have included reference photographs featuring tea utensils for your consideration.
This piece is likely from around the Qing Dynasty, though the natural warping characteristic of woodcraft from this period is evident in the side panels. However, the bottom and top surfaces remain flat, providing stability for small tea cups.
