This vessel shape, which is extremely rare among Sue ware, originates from the leather bags of the northern nomadic peoples, and is thought to be a kind of derivation of the leather bag-shaped earthenware that was first transferred to earthenware during the process of passing through China and the Korean Peninsula.
This item has 8 convex bands on the body, and fine line engravings in the Yamagata pattern. The ash covering and natural glaze are splendidly applied, giving it a powerful presence.
