Joseon Dynasty White Porcelain Full Moon Jar, Talhanari, Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897CE)

$171,754
This is a fine white porcelain jar from the mid-period of the Joseon Dynasty, known as a "Talhanari" or "Full Moon Jar." During the Joseon era, influenced by Confucianism, the aesthetics of craftsmanship emphasized the pure beauty of restrained decoration in white porcelain as the most appropriate expression. "Talhanari" means "moon jar" in Korean, named for its round and large shape resembling a full moon. Its soft and gentle curves, along with its sturdy body embracing the fullness of the moon, embody a harmonious balance of power and tranquility. Such jars were widely produced in the 17th century. This particular jar is in excellent condition, maintaining its nearly flawless original form. With a height of 52cm, it is a large and impressive "Full Moon Jar."
