The term "Anderson pottery" is derived from Dr. Anderson, a Swedish archaeologist who first discovered this type of ceramics. It refers collectively to the semi-mountainous style of painted pottery that belongs to the Majiayao culture.
While there are several forms of Anderson pottery, this piece represents one of the most iconic shapes, characterized by a jar form with handles extending in four directions.
Although there is some fraying at the rim, there are no significant repairs. The robust geometric patterns adorning the body are believed to carry a shamanistic significance, reflecting the wishes of the people. This piece embodies such captivating qualities, allowing you to fully appreciate the allure of ancient pottery.
