In contrast to the painted designs found on unglazed ceramics, this jar features decorative motifs applied after firing. The surface of the earthenware is adorned with pigments in shades of red, gray, and blue, showcasing cloud-scroll and beast motifs. The preservation of the artwork is remarkable, making it a visually striking piece.

Such pottery, often imitating metalware and lacquerware, was commonly included as grave goods in tombs from the Warring States period in northern China. Notably, the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang was also richly painted in full color.

This piece, measuring an impressive 61 cm, boasts a jar-like form that is entirely covered with intricate designs, exuding a powerful presence that qualifies it as a museum-quality work. It exhibits minimal wear and retains its complete shape.
