江戸時代、板に描かれた保存状態の良い大津絵です。元々は禅画「瓢鯰図」から考案された図柄で、大津絵では猿が瓢箪でなまずを抑える構図に翻案されています。道理に反することを無理にしようとする姿を風刺したもので、当時の雰囲気が伝わってきます。
