Tamba ware is a type of pottery produced in the vicinity of Imada Town, Tamba-Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. Its history is ancient, dating back approximately 850 years, believed to span from the late Heian period to the early Kamakura period, and it is counted among Japan's six ancient kilns. During the early Edo period, the use of the potter's wheel, along with clay bodies and ash glazes, led to the creation of new products. This piece is a four-handled jar designed for tea, featuring a red clay body with a flowing iron glaze.

Over time, this jar has developed a weathered iron glaze, revealing a rustic texture that embodies the essence of the earth. Its graceful form is sure to attract floral arrangements. A bamboo tube for floral arrangements is included.
