This is a large bowl from Chōsen Karatsu, dating to the Edo Period (1603–1867 CE). It is adorned with a milky, opaque straw ash glaze that has been skillfully applied, merging with the iron glaze to reveal a rich, deep mouse-gray hue. The condition is excellent.
