BOWL, Earthenware, Yayoi Period(300BCE–250CE)

Tax included.  |  Flat ¥1,000 shipping (Honshu only, large items excluded)

In ancient times, earthenware began to be produced in standardized forms such as jars, large pots, and bowls, tailored to specific uses. This tradition persisted for approximately a thousand years, from the Yayoi Period, when rice cultivation was introduced and established through paddy farming, to the Heian Period.

This piece is a bowl-shaped earthenware vessel that represents an intermediary form between a jar and a bowl. It is believed to have served dual purposes, functioning both as a cooking pot and as a dish for serving food, akin to a tea bowl.

Remarkably, it remains in its original form without any restoration, showcasing numerous impressions from the crafting process, and presents an impeccable aesthetic.
