READING STAND, Joseon Dynasty（1392–1897CE）

Made from thick, high-quality timber, this substantial piece features a latticed front door fitted with an iron ring. The top board and rails are robust, and the legs bear shallow carved grooves, presenting a simple yet powerful design. There is no warping, and the condition is excellent. Through years of use the wood has darkened to a deep brown and developed a rich, slightly lustrous patina. It exemplifies the solid, unadorned character typical of Joseon-period furniture. While well suited for use as a reading stand or small desk in a study, it also serves perfectly as a display pedestal or flower stand to showcase antiques.
