OLD COPPER EWER, Meiji Period(1868–1912CE)

Sale price¥16,000 JPY

Tax included.  |  Flat ¥1,000 shipping (Honshu only, large items excluded)

An antique copper ewer of the Meiji period. It features a stepped shoulder, a slender spout extending from the body, and a cylindrical handle on the side. The upper section is fitted with a hinged lid secured by rivets. The surface has developed a subdued, mature copper patina from years of use, with areas of verdigris and mottled discoloration. The interior retains a silvery-white film, indicating traces of the tinning treatment originally applied.

There are age-appropriate signs of use—scuffs, minor knocks, and spotty discoloration—but the lid opens and closes naturally and the overall condition is good. Believed to have been originally made as a tea-ceremony utensil, it was long used by ROCANIIRU as a watering ewer for bonsai.
