Chinese-style lacquered footed tray. Its height and size are ideal for serving tea for two. The sides are constructed in a wooden assembly reminiscent of a barrel. Within the joined planks, a core is inserted, and the surrounding area is bound with cord.
The well-worn wood exhibits a charming patina, with signs of insect activity and fraying that enhance its character.
Reference photographs featuring tea utensils have been included for your consideration.
This piece is likely from the Qing Dynasty period, as the distortions typical of woodcraft from this era are present; however, the base and top surfaces remain flat, ensuring stability for small tea cups.
