BAMBOO MEKKAI, Mingei, Modern（19th–20th centuries）

This ancient bamboo basket, known as a mekka, was traditionally used for transporting stones or transferring harvested goods into a背負いかご (backpack basket).
Such old bamboo mekkais, aged over time, are exceedingly rare.

It can be displayed as a wall hanging, adorned with vines or used to hold slender bamboo tubes for flower arrangements.
The weaving technique is exceptionally beautiful and exudes a dignified presence. Its condition is also quite good.
