This is an antique tea caddy made of carved red lacquer from the Qing Dynasty in China. The tea caddy is a traditional utensil used for transferring tea leaves to a teapot.

The design features a robust yet dynamic scrollwork motif. In contrast, the rounded carving and the harmonious interplay between the red lacquer and the black lacquer peeking through create a texture that is characteristic of wood-carved lacquerware.
