近年、日本で評価の高まりを見せたバンチェン土器ですが、本品は細かな線刻文が器の底部に細かく刻まれています。この種の土器の年代や形式変遷については未だ不明の域を脱していませんが、硬く焼きしまった赤い土味に、このような陰刻線で文様を表した土器は、紀元前千年頃のバンチェン前期に作られたと考えられています。
