SMALL JAR, Delftware, white-glazed with flat rim, Dutch Antique, Early Modern Period(16th–19th centuries)

Tax included.  |  Flat ¥1,000 shipping (Honshu only, large items excluded)

This white Delftware piece, dating from the Age of Exploration, was originally crafted as a pomade jar. However, in Japan, it has been cherished since the Edo period as a tea utensil, serving as a cup or water vessel for the tea ceremony. The soft, creamy texture of the earthenware, reminiscent of yogurt, offers a delightful tactile experience, while its nuanced surface captures light and shadow, embodying a timeless beauty.

The glaze on the surface has partially worn away, adding to its irresistible charm. This particular item is an 18th-century white Delftware jar with a flat rim, exuding a pastoral elegance. A photograph depicting its use as a tea container is included for your reference.
